About Amanda

Amanda is a London based creative, educator and researcher with a background in contemporary dance and aerial circus. She trained in contemporary dance and movement at Laban (now Trinity Laban Conservertoire of Dance and Music) graduating with a BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre. Her interest in aerial circus developed when she undertook a few weeks work experience with The Generating Company (GENCO) in the mid 2000s, after which she begain training in rope and silks under Catrin Osbourne. After graduating, Amanda went on to work freelance as a dance artist and aerialist.  Her previous performance highlights include work with Royal Opera Company, Upswing and Chrissie Adesina.

Amanda made a career change in 2011 qualifying as a primary school teacher. As an educator, she developed a strong interest in Early Years education and Reggio Emilia philosophy and approaches. Amanda has held many roles from teaching assistant to assistant headteacher and holds a master’s degree in social justice and education. She has initiated and led many creative projects as part of her work in schools, including ‘Chamber Tots’ music project with Wigmore Hall and The Whole Kids Foundation edible garden project.

After some years away from dance and circus, Amanda reconnected with dance in 2019 whilst attending community ballet and contemporary dance classes at ENB’s Mulryan Centre for Dance and for aerial circus in 2021 after attending a tryout session at My Aerial Home, where she went on to complete several intensive aerial courses and was encouraged to ‘Come back to circus!’ During this time, she was invited by Neve Harrington to join the cast of ‘Satelliser – a Dance for the Gallery’ (2021-2022).

Amanda is excited to continue using her unique blend of experience and expertise to work collaboratively in developing new and interesting work in a range of contexts.
